Here is a plain description of what a serviced weekend actually looks like, from Friday to the invoice on Monday.
Friday or Saturday morning: install
Our crew arrives and puts it up. The balloon flies at 120 feet above the ground, which is deliberate: below 150 feet the FAA is not involved, so 120 leaves comfortable margin.
If your site sits within five miles of controlled airspace we call the local tower first. In forty years we have never been refused.
Nothing is required from your staff. Nobody needs to be trained and nobody handles a helium tank.
During the weekend: nothing
The balloon loses about one percent of its helium a day, which across two days is not enough to notice.
If the forecast turns, we come and bring it down. You do not need to call us and you are not charged for a day it did not fly. In monsoon season that call gets made often, and making it correctly is exactly what you are paying us for.
Sunday evening: takedown, then Monday: the invoice
We collect it. Your invoice goes out Monday for the days it actually flew.
Balloon service is $247.25 a day, blimp service $297.25 a day in greater Phoenix. Tucson adds $30 a day. A normal Saturday and Sunday with a blimp is $594.50.
If you want it back next weekend, say so. If not, say nothing. There is no rolling commitment to cancel.
Which one to put up
The 5.5-foot sphere reads as colour and movement from a distance. It gets people to look.
The 13-foot blimp has two large printed sides, so it also tells them who you are. For a model home or a dealership it usually earns its extra $50 a day, because the message travels with the attention.
